ABSTRACT

This study aims to determine the effect of education on oral health to the level of knowledge, attitudes, actions, and oral hygiene in 37 elementary school students Ampenan. This study used a design One Group Pre-test and Post -test. The study population was all students in grade 3 and 4 Elementary School 37 Ampenan totaling 48 students. Analysis of the data using the Wilcoxon test. The results of this study were obtained prior to the intervention, 13 students (27.1 %) had a level of knowledge about dental health and good oral and 35 students (35 %) have a sufficient level of knowledge. For attitude, as many as 12 students (25.0 %) included in either category, 20 students (41.7 %) in enough categories, and 16 students (33.3 %) in the low category. For action, as many as 11 students (22.9 %) included in either category, 23 students (47.9 %) included in the category of pretty, and 14 students (29.2 %) included in the category of less. After the intervention, all students have a level of knowledge, attitude, and good action. For dental and oral hygiene, as many as 22 students (45.8 %) included in both categories and 26 students (54.2 %) included in the unfavorable category before intervention. After the intervention, a total of 12 students (25.0 %) had oral hygiene with the excellent category and a total of 36 students (75.0 %) with both. The conclusion that there are significant differences in the level of knowledge, attitudes, and actions, oral and dental hygiene students before and after the intervention  It is advisable for the school in order to participate in improving oral health in students.
